Matt and I went on a date to see La La Land, and oh, the fun! Have you heard of sing-along movies? My sister went to a sing-along featuring The Sound of Music at The Tower in Salt Lake, and it sounded like loads of goofy fun. Everybody in the theater watches the film until the next song comes along, at which point the whole crowd breaks out in unified melodic magic.
I wished La La Land had been a dance-along. I would have twirled, and Matt would have attempted lifting me high into the air (lol!), and we would have sashayed, arm in arm, right out of the theater...just a couple of happy weirdos.
Anyway, we were watching the lovely La La Land when it hit me....WE are "Fools who Dream!" Matt heard my sniffles and looked right. "What is it?" he asked, our faces lit by the flicker of the film. "Are you ok?" "I sold our furniture today," I replied.
We have been talking about this trip, on and off, for 5 plus years now. We talked our 4 kids into accompanying us (oh, the mayhem that awaits!), set a launch date, and then told everyone we know so we wouldn't get cold feet and back out. But none of it felt real until I was sitting there and realized we no longer had a couch.
"Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make"
